What is ClariFix?

ClariFix is a nasal probe device that is gently inserted into the back of the nose, where the source of sinusitis is. The probe targets a small, inflamed area using cryotherapy (cold therapy). Targeted cooling selectively freezes tissues to interrupt the signals to the nerves which cause your nose to swell and drip. This innovative therapy relieves inflammation, pain, and other symptoms of chronic sinusitis.

Am I a candidate for ClariFix treatments?

Men or women experiencing unresolved chronic symptoms of rhinitis or sinusitis despite medication or other treatments are candidates for ClariFix treatments. ClariFix treatments are designed to resolve the following concerns:

  • Broken sleep
  • Post-nasal drip
  • Itching nose and sneezing
  • Persistent congestion
  • Persistent runny nose
  • Inflammation or swelling
  • Nasal and facial pressure or pain

What should I expect during the ClariFix procedure?

A local anesthetic is applied to ensure you feel no pain during the procedure. When the anesthesia has taken effect and the area is fully numbed, your doctor will gently guide an endoscope into your nose. The ClariFix probe will then follow the endoscope to the back of your nose where the nerves are located. These nerves are sending signals to cause your nose to itch, run, swell and remain congested. Your doctor will use the endoscope camera to see the area of inflammation in order to apply the cooling probe correctly to those nerves. The cooling effectively interrupts the nerve signals causing the symptoms.

A ClariFix treatment takes a few minutes per nostril. During the treatment, you’ll feel a cooling sensation, slight pressure, and minor discomfort.
